The mass lobby is in response to the government’s Budget announcement, which outlined changes to APR (Agricultural Property Relief) and BPR (Business Property Relief).
»Ê¼Ò»ªÈËare campaigning for this ‘family farm tax’ to be reversed.
Can non-registered members join the MP meeting?
Please make us aware of all attendees who are planning to meet with an MP, so that we can arrange transport and ensure adequate capacity at the venue.
There are other ways for supporters to get involved in the campaign:
- Use social media to explain the impact of the family farm tax on their business, tagging their MP and using the hashtags #StoptheFarmTax and #BackBritishFarming.
- Sign the petition at the top of our Autumn Budget timeline.
How do I organise a meeting with my MP?
To make the most of the mass lobby, we need members to arrange a meeting with their MP to explain the devastating impact the proposed changes will have on their farm and family and ask for their support in reversing the family farm tax.
Members can send the NFU’s template letter to MPs. MPs will be briefed to make them aware that these requests will be coming in from members.
Can we accommodate under 18s on the coach?
Unfortunately, the NFU cannot accommodate under 18s on the coach. Members will have to have confirmed that they are over 18.
How do I know if my place is confirmed?
Members will have received communication from the NFU to confirm their place.
This gives members details of the template letter and what to do to organise transport to the event once their MP meeting is confirmed.

More details, including arrival and departure logistics, will be included in further emails.
Members will receive a confirmation letter, by email, from 15 November. You must bring the letter and photo ID with you on the day.
You can either show the letter on your phone or print it off and bring it with you.
Where should I be when I am not in Church House?
While Church House is the central meeting point, we suggest finding nearby areas for breaks or refreshments. Westminster offers numerous places to wait between sessions.
Please avoid congregating in large numbers outside the building to help us manage safety and comply with local guidelines.
Can MP meetings take place in Church House?
Yes, there will be space available in Church House for one-to-one and group MP meetings.
Will briefing materials be provided?
Yes, the NFU will be providing a briefing to all members ahead of them meeting with their MP.
Is the NFU producing placards?
»Ê¼Ò»ªÈËwill provide campaign materials for registered attendees.
This does not include placards. Please do not bring placards or posters to the venue as you will not be able to bring these into Church House or the Houses of Parliament.
Where will MP meetings being held?
»Ê¼Ò»ªÈËhave been liaising with the Parliamentary Security Team to ensure engagements on the day run smoothly and efficiently as possible.
We understand that many of the meeting rooms in Parliament are already booked on 19 November, so the Parliamentary authorities have arranged for meeting tables in Westminster Hall to facilitate MP meetings with members.
How do members access the Houses of Parliament?
Members with a confirmed MP meeting will be given priority access through Cromwell Green.
Members will need to enter the Parliamentary estate through the Cromwell Green entrance, opposite Westminster Abbey, unless they have received other specific guidance from their MP.
Any NFU members who have not arranged a meeting beforehand will join a queue in Westminster Hall. They will be given a green card and MPs offices will be contacted so they know you here.
Do I need to bring evidence of a pre-booked meeting?
Yes please.
The Parliamentary Security Team have informed us that any farmers with evidence of pre-booked meeting with their MP will get priority when entering. So, if you have a pre-booked meeting - bring evidence of that - email or text message.
Is there any guidance of what I can take into the House of Parliament?
Members should not wear or carry any political or campaigning slogans, this includes Back British Farming. You may be refused entry to the Parliamentary Estate if you do.
There are a number of security measures to follow – see .
Are buses provided for transport to the event?
»Ê¼Ò»ªÈËwill provide transport for members with a planned MP meeting. Once members have confirmed their MP visit, regional offices will share details of how to book a coach through Eventbrite.
This transport provision will be facilitated regionally.
Can I make alternative transport arrangements?
We ask that registered members use the NFU’s transport provision.
A member has confirmed their MP meeting, but they will be travelling to London with their family as they make business decisions collectively. While the event is one member only, can the other family members use the bus provision?
Yes, if there is an MP meeting secured, family members can make use of the NFU transport provision.
To ensure we have enough capacity across our transport provision, members must make us aware if they intend to travel with their family by securing a ticket through our booking system.
Will the NFU cover my travel expenses if I choose to make my own arrangements?
We encourage members to use the NFU’s provided transport options.
If you’re unable to do so and need to arrange your own travel, we may offer a contribution toward your expenses, though the exact amount will be confirmed after the event based on overall attendance and costs.
This contribution will be payable to NFU members only, who are travelling for the purposes of attending the NFU’s mass lobby event, to attend a meeting with their MP.
Thank you for your understanding.
