This was the first of three questions Kelly Hewson-Fisher, Head of Rural Research at Savills posed as key players gathered for the NFU's water summit last month to discuss the challenges farmers face around water quality and availability. NFU Environment Policy Adviser Zoe Moore reports.

What followed as an hour of interesting discussion, idea sharing, and solutions-focused thinking. 聽

The group touched on various potential sources of investment 鈥 public, private and opportunities for a blend of both 鈥 and how this could be channelled more effectively into farming and the water sector.聽

Reference was made to growing interest from the supply chain to support future resilience, improved collaboration with the finance sector, and in particular, the need to invest in soil health.聽

鈥淚 am confident this discussion was just the beginning, and there is great enthusiasm to drive further progress and improvements within the water space.鈥
