Watch again: NFU East water resources meeting

29 January 2024

There are future developments with policy and regulation for water resources that will potentially affect members who abstract. NFU East brought together key people from the Environment Agency, Water Resources East and the Water for Food Group to provide an update.

Climate change and increased water demand across sectors is increasing the risk of environmental damage and reductions in supply in the years ahead so national, regional and local planning to build resilience is necessary.

Agricultural abstractors form a key part of this process with demand peaking at critical times and increasingly need to come together in abstractor groups to develop local resource options. These also provide strong platforms to engage with the multi-sectoral regional planning process.

Although this update is aimed at members in the East region, this is a national issue and abstractors in other regions will find its contents of interest.
