The GB Dairy Calf Strategy, committing to rearing all calves by 2023 will likely increase the number of dairy calves further. Dedicated TB Isolation Units provide an essential outlet for TB restricted young stock, whilst also have the opportunity for the cattle to leave the unit as TB Free (providing two clear skin tests are completed, read at severe interpretation).

Additionally, Approved Finishing Units (Enhanced) offer an alternative to the existing AFUs with grazing who may have licences revoked in the near further, if within an existing wildlife control zone. AFUEs can provide an opportunity for farmers to graze their TB restricted cattle for a period of time, allowing them to meet possible market requirements.
