The Bill aims to reform, modernise, and adapt the planning system to one that is more favourable to development.
It is extremely wide in scope and looks to cover all aspects of the planning system with the aim of delivering 1.5 million homes by the end of the current parliament, move Britain closer to net zero, reduce opportunities for higher compulsory purchase compensation, and modernise local government planning authorities.
The Bill is currently going through parliament to reach Royal Assent and may also see many amendments. The government is expected to give this Bill the highest priority which will increase its speed through parliament.
It will aim to streamline the process of building new homes and critical infrastructure, supporting economic growth and environmental sustainability.
