»Ê¼Ò»ªÈËlobbied for additional bTB information to be made available to cattle keepers via the ibTB mapping tool during a consultation last year to help support informed purchasing decisions.

The is an interactive tool mapping bTB that has been running for 10 years and is a trusted way of accessing bTB information. The free online ibTB interactive map shows both current and historical bTB data, with two displays on approved finishing unit and CPH locations of registered herds across England and Wales.

Following Defra's consultation last year, which set out new proposals for a ‘targeted badger intervention policy’ in addition to questions around publishing additional, individual animal-level bTB information on ibTB, the tool has today been upgraded to display the following information for cattle in English herds:

  • Date of birth, sex, breed, and date/type of last bTB test.
  • Details about the current herd, including bTB risk area, any bTB breakdown history and dates, and the length of time the animal has been in the herd.
  • Where relevant, the same details will also be available for the previous herd.

Previously, the map would only show breakdown information about herds, but now farmers can access detailed information about an individual animal.

Cattle keepers will be able to access animal (ear tag) data in the same way as they did herd and location searches.

An essential tool for livestock farmers

»Ê¼Ò»ªÈËmade the case that increasing accessible routine bTB information gives greater transparency and promotes responsible purchasing within the cattle industry.

We would also support Defra considering additional developments such as displaying radial / hotspot zones and additional information to keepers on bTB licensed units.

The new enhancements implemented today detailing the date and type of an animal's most recent bTB test will help cattle keepers further assess the bTB risk of an animal moving into a new herd.

The ibTB is produced by ERGO and APHA, with funding from Defra and the Welsh Government. A super user group of farmers, industry and stakeholders was set up to help develop the system and inform future updates.
