East West Rail consultation meetings

The third non-statutory consultation is open for the East West Rail project. Attend one of two NFU meetings to hear more and give your feedback on the early designs and options being considered. 

»Ê¼Ò»ªÈËis hosting two member meetings to discuss the project with members on 13 January. The meetings will be held at:

• Bedford Blues Rugby Club, MK40 3NF at 10.30am to 12.30pm 
• The Manor Barn, Harlton, CB23 1EY at 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

NFU infrastructure leads Louise Staples and Alice Sharlot will attend the meetings to discuss:

  • The project timeline
  • Consultation documents and information
  • NFU’s response to the consultation and how to write your own response to the consultation
  • Discussion around impacts of the project and member questions.

Consultation material

The consultation material can be found by. You will need to scroll down the main page to the Documents and Guides section where there is also a video explaining the non-statutory consultation.

There is a lot of consultation material available, and we would recommend that you look at these documents:

  • Consultation document – which provides overarching information on the consultation.
  • which provides multiple layers showing design features such as proposed compounds, access roads and proposed areas of mitigation. 
  • Maps and plans by section
  • Factsheets on matters including the approach to land and landowners, DCO process, embankments and viaducts and construction management.

There is also information on:

  • A technical report, which provides more detailed information on the emerging plans and is broken down into specific sections of the route including a section on route wide matters, the approach to construction and next steps.
  •  An Environmental Update Report, which is also broken down into specific sections of the route as well as including sections on matters such as the Code of Construction Practice.
  • There is also a section on land and property, which provides a guide to compulsory purchase and compensation.
  • A link to the updated environmental impact assessment.

How to have your say

East West Rail is holding several consultation events, . There is also an online event on 9 January from 10am to 12pm, which can be accessed via ). In addition, a virtual consultation room can be accessed via the website.

You can respond to the consultation by: 

  • Completing the consultation feedback form online. 
  • Sending an email to [email protected].
  • Sending a copy of the feedback form to Freepost EAST WEST RAIL. 
  • Handing in a copy of the feedback form at a consultation event.
