The highlight of the past weeks though was definitely the Three Counties Show, where the sun shone and members flocked to the NFU tent.
NFU President Tom Bradshaw was with us for the whole of Friday, so members were able to hear about the depth and breadth of the work that the NFU is doing from the President.
Several members attended the Cereals event in Lincolnshire and the arable event closer to home. NFU Midlands Crops Board members were able to explain the board priorities and seek members’ views on topical issues.
Funding
I have been working with Wychavon and Malvern Hills district councils on the rollout of their Rural England Prosperity Funding, so if you have a project which you think might qualify for up to £25,000 match funding, I urge you to get in touch and I can point you in the right direction.
Following NFU lobbying, a further round of funding for Farming in Protected Landscapes is also available. I have been meeting with some of the new county councillors to explain the work of the NFU and how the county council can support farmers and growers. And we’re also getting MP meetings in the diary.
Get your IHT impact story heard
We are using an AI tool to help with letter writing to explain how the Family Farm Tax will impact families. If you are in Tom Collins' or Chris Bloore’s constituencies, and you’d like to trial this AI tool, please get in touch – I can come out and help.
The more letters we receive, the more likely they are to work with the NFU to implement changes. We have some great farm walks planned for the summer across the county, so do join if you can.
New safety campaign
We have launched a new campaign, Take 5 To Stay Alive - five minutes to pause, to think, and to take care of your physical and mental wellbeing.
What one thing will you do to ensure you come home safely to your loved ones?
Wishing you all a safe harvest.
