Shows
It's been a busy show season in the county. At the Shropshire County Show we had NFU President Tom Bradshaw on-stand, along with NFU Poultry Board Chair, National Legal Board Chair and our Regional Board Chair. Well done to the Group Secretaries of East Shropshire for the Newport Show, Oswestry for their show (where NFU Cymru Vice-president Abi Reader was their guest), Shrewsbury for Minsterley Show and Bridgnorth and Ludlow for Burwarton Show (where they had the NFU Livestock Board Chair as guest).
There was good MP attendance at many of the shows, specifically our county show where Tom met with Julia Buckley MP and Mark Pritchard MP.
Environment Agency
The County Adviser and the Regional Environment and Land Use Adviser have met with the Environment Agency at their Shrewsbury offices. There, the new Diffuse Water Pollution Plan was the main topic of discussion, but this lead onto the trials and tribulations that members in the Clun catchment are facing, and access to water that all members are and will be facing.
Shropshire Hills National Landscapes Management Plan
Following our members meeting on the plan consultation last month, the County Adviser, County Chair and Environment and Land Use Adviser met with Phill Holden from the NL to discuss it further and raise our concerns about how little there is in the plan about productive farming, and how important it is to the success of his plan.
Local Nature Recovery Strategy
The Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin LNRS .
Over the past year, the county council has been making this map, which will include YOUR land, and it is now important that farmers and landowners have their say in the map and the strategy.
Over the next few weeks, we will be arranging two county meetings, (north and south), as, despite the fact that we still don鈥檛 know how the council or the government will use this map yet, we need to be able to give the information that we do have to you.
