Transition Live 2025 brings together farmers, policymakers and industry experts for a day of knowledge exchange, collaboration and networking, with a busy seminar programme focused on three key topics: Food Production, Environment and Business.
Event details
The venue is Spen Farm, Spen Common Lane, Tadcaster LS24 9NS – just off A1(M) junction 44 – starting at 9am, with parallel breakout sessions running from 10:30am to around 4:30pm.
NFU members Richard Bramley and David and Helen Brass will also be speaking at the event.
In addition, the Innovation Hub, in partnership with the UK Agri-Tech Centre, will be an interactive space for farmers, specialists and researchers to meet and hear a series of short talks between 11:30am and 4pm on the latest technologies shaping the future of agriculture.
Spen Farm (along with nearby Headley Hall and Wise Warren farms) makes up the University of Leeds Research Farm, and houses the National Pig Centre (part of CIEL, the UK’s livestock innovation Centre), which has been doing interesting work on net zero farm systems, including farm electricity ‘micro-grids’ and insect bioconversion of pig slurry.
Guided farm walks
In addition, the event will feature three guided farm walks throughout the day, starting at 10:45am:
- Regenerative agriculture - explore the University of Leeds RegenAg Trial. Measure the impact of different transition pathways. Gain detailed insights on how soil health has changed and strategies for managing cover crops. Learn how regenerative agriculture can enhance biodiversity and its economic opportunities and challenges.
- Quantifying greenhouse gas fluxes and the carbon balance of agricultural systems. As the sector strives to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions, explore how an ‘eddy covariance flux tower’ measures carbon uptake. Improve your understanding on how they may change management practices and environmental factors.
- Growing the future: explore biomass production at Headley Hall. Discover one of the UK’s eight , designed to showcase innovations in different biomass cultivations. Local communities, researchers and industry leaders can gain knowledge and learn best practice for the ambitious upscaling of the nation’s biomass feedstock industry.
